Dr. Daveed Frazier, NYC resident and Orthopedic Spine Surgeon with Atlantic Spine Center was honored on June 10, 2015 by the Jazz Foundation of America for his excellence in Orthopedic Spine Surgery and for his support of the jazz community.

Dr. Daveed Frazier, NYC resident and Orthopedic Spine Surgeon with Atlantic Spine Center was honored by the Jazz Foundation of America for his excellence in Orthopedic Spine Surgery and for his support of the jazz community. The honor was bestowed on June 10, 2015 at the Patron Saints Gala Kickoff Soiree at the Time Warner Center in New York City. The event was hosted by Dick Parsons (former CEO of AOL and Time Warner) and well known actor/producer Danny Glover. Many were in attendance including the Prince and Princess of Luxenburg, who provided the evening with wine from their personal vineyard.
Dr. Frazier graduated cum laude from Harvard Medical School. He went on to complete a combined surgical internship at the New England Deaconess Hospital and an orthopedic residency at Massachusetts General Hospital. He has won many “Teacher of the Year” awards for serving as a Clinical Assistant Professor at Columbia University and as an Adjunct Clinical Assistant Professor at Downstate where he teaches medical students and residents.
Dr. Frazier specializes in minimally invasive spine surgery and is a respected lecturer, accomplished researcher, and published author on spine disorders and treatment.
According to the mission statement, “The Jazz Foundation of America (JFA) is committed to providing jazz and blues musicians with financial, medical, housing, and legal assistance as well as performance opportunities, with a special focus on the elderly and veterans who have paid their dues and find themselves in crisis due to illness, age and/or circumstance. Dr. Frazier has been a supporter of the organization and has volunteered as a doctor, providing healthcare services free of charge to jazz musicians in need. The award was given to Dr. Frazier for donating his time, care, hospital/hospital team to helping out a renowned Jazz producer who was in need of a serious procedure because he was slowly becoming paralyzed. In return for his selfless act, Dr. Frazier was also commemorated by having a song written in his honor.
